Habits Are Hard

We love to glorify the grand actions and monumental changes. When in reality, it’s the small, constant, everyday habits that truly keep us afloat on the path to lifelong growth.

It’s best to start afresh, they say. Why else do people love making resolutions during New Years? Yet many do not take stock in them even though they are absolutely attainable.

Why?

Because while habits get easier everyday, doing them everyday is the hard part.

Here’s why you should still do it though

  1. You Become Efficient

Habits can become automatic over time, requiring less brain power which gives more space for other challenging tasks instead. No more learning curves that take up too much time.

  2. Consistency is Peace

There will eventually be some events you cannot anticipate. To make things bearable, there has to be some parts of your day where you can expect for it to be the same. This can bring some comfort in the midst of chaosness. And when you’re calm, you make better decisions overall.

  3. Discipline is Crucial

To overcome difficulties, there must be a high level of discipline. Building up tolerance takes time and effort but think of it as an investment. Once you’ve partaken in healthy habits, your achievements will speak for you.

  4. Healthy Mind, Body, and Beyond

Workouts, balanced diets, and sufficient sleep will improve your physical health immensely. It lowers the risks for many diseases and keeps you fit. But these habits also contribute to a healthy mind, lowering stress levels and releasing endorphins which have moodlifting effects.
